Subodh Kumar Jaiswal will be the new director of CBI
IPS Subodh Kumar Jaiswal is a 1985 batch Indian Police Service (IPS) officer and has previously held the post of Director General of Police of Maharashtra.
IPS Subodh Kumar Jaiswal has been appointed as the new Director of Central Bureau of Investigation (CBI) for a period of 2 years. On Monday, there was a meeting of a high-powered committee constituted for the selection of the new director of the Central Bureau of Investigation (CBI) under the chairmanship of Prime Minister Narendra Modi.Apart from PM Modi, Congress leader Adhir Ranjan Chaudhary and Chief Justice of India Justice NV Ramanna were also included in this committee. The meeting took place at the Prime Minister’s residence. It is worth mentioning that in addition to Subodh Kumar Jaiswal for the post of CBI Director, Director General of Sashastra Seema Bal (SSB) Kumar Rajesh Chandra and Special Secretary in the Union Home Ministry, VS. K. Kaumudi’s name was also included in the discussion.Jaiswal is a 1985 batch Indian Police Service (IPS) officer and has previously held the post of Director General of Police of Maharashtra. He is currently the Director General of the Central Industrial Security Force (CISF). Currently Praveen Sinha, a 1988 batch IPS officer and Additional Director of CBI, is holding the charge of CBI Director. Sinha was given this charge after the retirement of Rishi Kumar Shukla.
Jaiswal was with India’s external intelligence agency Research and Analysis Wing (RA&W) for nine years, during which he served as additional secretary of RA&W for three years. Jaiswal has also served in the Intelligence Bureau and Maharashtra ATS chief. He was the head of the Central Industrial Security Force.
